Let me introduce myself
My name is Prince M (With The Dot). I’m a novelist, short stories writer, songwriter, and music producer. My other interests include photography (I took the damn picture on the left myself!) and filmmaking (one thing at a time though, hopefully one successful career with lead to another since they are not that much different – all with the arts).
I am passionate about the arts (as you can tell from the above info). I love listening to music, and not just a specific genre of music but a variety of genres: from RnB, Hip Hop, Pop, Folk Music, Rock n Roll, Afro-pop, Afro beats, Maskandi, Reggae, House, AmaPiano, Trap, Blues, Classical… and music I can’t allocate to a specific genre.
Mostly, however, I resonate with music that cuts across genres – blending elements from various genres and making it sound solid. And it makes sense because I also produce music that experiments with different genres – madly in love with 808s, I have to admit.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pretoria (one of the best in the country, I might add), with majors in English Literature and History.
And if you are curious about my age, I am 26 years old – a freedom child, born on the 1st of July 1994. So gifts are welcome on my birthday, if you are the generous type. I will welcome them with open arms and a heart full of gratitude.
I love LOVE and I am happy, despite everything happening, despite where I am in life. I have found a secret which is no secret at all:
If you want to be happy, look inside – introspect: think of the things you went through and survived, think of the troubles you’ve had and have since been resolved, look around you and appreciate the shelter you’ve got (I live in my sister’s shack at the moment), think of the fact that you don’t go to bed with an empty stomach, you have a family and friends that care about you, and acknowledge that the Universe cares and will take care of you – and, knowing and seeing all these wonderful things around you, be grateful for each and everyone of them, and happiness will find you.
That’s what I think of happiness: appreciating the things that we already have around us, as opposed to being frustrated about things that we are chasing.
And as for creating this blog, I specifically crave an audience that will push me to write and finish my first novel, which I have so much hopes for. I have been writing in Zulu (my mother tongue) since I was fourteen, and I started writing in English in 2015.
Since then I have attempted writing five novels, unsuccessfully. And I have written a bunch of short stories, some of them published in online sites that I might add at a later stage.
So I will be sharing chapters of my novel that I’ve already written (and will continue to share as I write), and I will be open to feedback from whoever has thoughts on my writing. Will be highly appreciated. So join me for the ride, will you?
I reside in Johannesburg (South Africa).
